In the November 15th edition of Pacific Magazine, local freelancer and garden expert Valerie Easton, wrote a great piece on Bastille owners James Weimann and Demming Maclise’s pioneering idea to put a rooftop garden on top of the historic Ballard building that houses their popular French restaurant.
Colin McCrate of Seattle Urban Farm Company created special beds so Chef Shannon Galusha can harvest tender greens and flavorful herbs all year round for Bastille’s delicious salads.

On Wednesday, November 18, Seattle Arts & Lectures is featuring actress, model and author Isabella Rosselini, who will be speaking at Benaroya Hall in support of Green Porno, her two-year old short film series on the sex lives of insects for the Sundance Channel.

Patron-level ticket holders and up are invited to meet and greet Rossellini at the W Seattle after the lecture. Enjoy delicious wines from DeLille Cellars and O Wines and ask Rossellini your own questions about the scintillating copulation habits of the insect world.

Any Francophile worth their frites will tell you that the 3rd Thursday in November is traditionally when the first of the Beaujolais Nouveau is released for sale.
Bastille Café & Bar is embracing the Beaujolais spirit by offering of a cask of Drouhin Beaujolais Nouveau, available by the glass and demi-carafe alongside live French music from the band Rouge in the Back Bar from 7 pm to 10 pm on Thursday, November 19th.
In addition, Chef Shannon Galusha and Chef de Cuisine Jason Stoneburner, will be preparing Grande Plats of pâté, rillettes and other charcuterie that will be available for purchase during regular business hours.
