So very sad today to learn of the passing of friend, Robin DeVick. Nearly 25 years ago I met Robin, a talented young artist, and curly-haired blonde beauty, who was finishing studies at UW and looking to sell her hand-painted scarves. Part of Robin’s charm was her always-humble response to her beautiful art; the other her bold moxie and strong tenacity. She dove head first into the world of wholesale and retail sales with her trademark infectious smile and sweet demeanor.
While she was always adventurous, floral impressionism was Robin’s strong suit. Big, bright colors one season, pale pastels the next- always very French. She had vision and inspiration, never lacking for new visual direction. At one point in time I was surrounded by her work at every turn. I asked Robin to design fabric that upholstered two sofas and an ottoman that years later, remains at the foot of the bed. I wore her beautiful scarves, a hand-painted, sexy little dress she designed for me and a sweet, silk evening bag with feathers I still have.
On a recent visit from L.A., I had the good fortune to see Robin and for that, I am thankful. Robin leaves behind her loving family and many, many friends who adored her. Tonight I toast her with a glass of champagne for once upon a time, bubbly was her cocktail of choice.

Ok, so maybe my little play on the word ‘Soma’ to replace ‘Some’ didn’t work as well as I had hoped but let me just tell you that you do in fact need lingerie from Soma Intimates. Not only is their lingerie perfect for the everyday woman but it’s also pretty!
I had the pleasure of checking out the newest Soma Intimates at Pacific Place this weekend and was thrilled by what I found. Not only do they have beautiful bras and undies but they also have appealing lingerie that is sexy AND comfortable! Also, their bra size selection is incredible!
I was told they have amazing deals very often and they change constantly. The current promotion running is all Somawear and Sleepwear is buy 1 get 1 50% off – it may last a few more days so hurry down and check it out!
Bra fittings are encouraged and free! If you aren’t sold yet, just know that they have bras to “hide the lady lumps” – that was a direct quote!
Oh and during the All for Fall promotion at Pacific Place Soma Intimates has Buy three panties and get two for free. (Promotion is offered only on selected styles.)

In an effort to learn more about the urban farming culture, a group of Washington Senators will tour Bastille’s rooftop garden on September 30.
“This tour is being put together at the request of Senator Jacobsen and the theme is “Urban Agriculture.” Senators Ken Jacobsen, Brian Hatfield, Mary Margaret Haugen, Bob Morton, and others will be speaking with Seattle Urban Farm Company’s Colin McCrate and Bastille chef Shannon Galusha about the renewed interest in growing food by urban residents, urban attitudes about food, and city-dwellers’ interest in accessing more local food.
Have you toured Bastille’s rooftop garden yet?
Small group tours of the garden are offered Wednesday at 5 p.m.. Learn about urban gardening and how it translates in the local culinary scene, and then enjoy a rooftop-inspired cocktail at the conclusion of the tour.
Tours begin at 5 p.m. $10 per person. To reserve a spot on an upcoming rooftop tour, call 206.453.5014.
