Pacific Place recently brought in Melvita‘s passionate Parisian brand ambassador, Didier Thevenin, for a day of education and rejuvenation. The organically certified, French brand is rightfully proud of its strong foundation of celebrating natural beauty. This week’s hottest ticket is a complimentary performance by LP at the W Seattle.  LP is an emerging artist, signed by Warner Bros. and brought to W Seattle by W Hotels Global Music Director Michaelangelo L’Acqua.  Legendary rock photographer Mick Rock (think iconic images of Bowie, Iggy Pop, Freddie Mercury and other ’70′s rock gods) will be there photographing LP’s performance.

To some May means first day of boating season, Cinco de Mayo or the Kentucky Derby, but to others, May signifies National Burger Month. In honor of this auspiciously delicious occasion RN74 Seattle is offering two burger-centric specials throughout May.

The first is the Burg & Burg Combo – an extra value meal the RN74 way. For $22 guests will enjoy the ultimate pairing of the RN74 bistro burger featuring cheddar cheese, “fancy sauce” and rosemary frites and a glass of Sommelier Select Pinot noir. Diners may also choose to embellish their burgers with Hills’ applewood-smoked bacon for an additional $3 or go over the top with the addition of seared Foie gras for $8.

Also on the menu is a deluxe burger available this month only: Chef Seis Kamimura has crafted the love-child of French and American sandwiches, the Croque Madame Burger featuring Painted Hills and Double R Ranch house-ground 8 oz patties topped with Virginia ham, Mornay sauce and a fried egg. At $15, it’s two sandwiches in one and a meal in itself.

W Seattle has recently renovated and re-opened their first floor Living Room, restaurant and bar using Portland architectural firm, Sky Lab Architecture, whose notable Portland projects include Departure Restaurant & Lounge at the Nines, Nike Studio at 255 and Doug Fir, restaurant, lounge and music venue. The hotel’s $2.5 million project delivers an outcome that merges iconic Seattle metaphors with craft influences of the Pacific Northwest, creating what local writer Ronald Holden says “combines the elegant with the plebian, both arty and utilitarian.”

Notable design concepts include a “Sonic Lodge” feel, combined with Craft, Aviation, Native American and Music combined with Key Design Features being 31 impressive, floor-to-ceiling sculptural “lodge” or “totem poles” comprised of 174 sections that run throughout the space; a 3-story fireplace that riffs on a traditional national park service look-out and is covered with nearly 1,000 stainless steel, industrial-inspired tiles and a DJ booth high above; bright pink blown glass chandeliers from Portland’s hip Esque Studio; and a corner of the Living Room, representing the “library,” with a large community table for group meetings, social gatherings or an individual workspace and papered by 6 by 22 foot wallpaper panels featuring a classic record album collection, created in collaboration with New York City’s Flavor Paper.

Anchoring the south end of the restaurant is a lenticular mural, 20 x 12 feet wide, designed by The Felt Hat, a Portland, Oregon “Design Thinking” company.  Depending on one’s vantage point in the room, guests see either a jellyfish that may be floating in Puget Sound, or from the other side, a sonic boom and fighter jet racing across the sky.

A beautiful, 10-seat sushi bar with a custom-fabricated walnut counter top and low-slung contemporary wood chairs provide a haven for the sustainably caught wild seafood and fish offered fresh daily from the expert sushi chefs and a 12-seat private dining area with a modern gaming theme punctuated by a sleek and unique table with a top that references a backgammon board.

Frommer’s Travel included Kenwood Inn and Spa, among many stellar international properties, on their list of the Best Vineyard Inns & Hotels Around the World saying,

“Kenwood is well-positioned: Kunde Vineyards flanks the east, north and south of the property, offering guests beautiful views…Healdsburg and the Russian River Valley are 45 minutes to the north, but there are nearly 100 vineyards within 30 minutes of Kenwood. At the end of the day, refresh yourself in one of the three saltwater plunge pools, and enjoy the silence: the Inn also has a no-children policy.”

Dinners raved about Holly Smith’s Cafe Juanita on KCTS 9′s new foodie show, Check, Please! Northwest calling this esteemed Kirkland restaurant “Imaginative”; the food “Impeccably prepared”; the meal a “Memorable Dinner- Best I’ve ever eaten”; and the “Service perfect.”

Sommelier Dawn Smith did an amazing job on-screen, describing the uniqueness of the restaurant, and how special it is, tucked away in a lovely little corner of Kirkland.
