The dinner’s this weekend were a success with many filmmakers, movers and shakers in attendance, including the people behind Choke, CircumstanceSuperheroes and Prairie Love.

 

Sundance Festival: Day One


Every year Lissa attends the Sundance Festival with Washington FilmWorks to highlight Washington state’s film industry. This year Lissa is joined by Greg Campbell, Director of Sales & Marketing for W Seattle and Earth & Ocean, Amy Lillard-Dee, Executive Director of Washington Filmworks and Warren Etheredge of The Warren Report.

Tonight and tomorrow night, Lissa, Greg, Amy and Warren will be hosting intimate dinners, prepared by Executive Sous Chef Ben Closson of Earth & Ocean restaurant at W Seattle, for a cadre of carefully selected producers, financiers, directors, writers, and actors to promote Seattle and Washington State as an ideal filming location.

Acclaimed Washington State winemaker, Anna Schafer of a’Maurice Cellars in Walla Walla, joins the event and will pours one of her award-winning varietals with each course.

Chef Closson will woo guests with such delicacies as Parmigano Reggiano with Pumpkin-Cranberry Jam, Dungeness Crab with  Tart Apple and Bacon Tuile, Cidar Braised All Natural Pork Belly and Orange Chestnut Honey Pots de Crème.

Lissa and Earth & Ocean hosted a successful Seattle dinner Friday night with W Seattle, the Mayor’s Office and Washington Film Works. It was a great group and the food was exceptional.  Ben Closson, sous chef at Earth & Ocean whipped-up a stunning meal paired with wines from rock star Washington winemaker, Anna Schafer of àMaurice Cellars.

Chef Adam Stevenson’s Charcuterie started the meal, followed by a Mushroom Potage with Tarragon, Hazelnut and Apple paired with a 2007 Chardonnay. Next up, Smoked Duck Braesaola with Pistachios, Oranges, Roasted Beets with aMaurice Cellars 2007 Grenache/Syrah Blend. The main course was Painted Hills Beef Short Ribs, Rapini, French Lentils and Horseradish Cream with a 2006 Tsutakawa Red Blend. And for dessert, cookies from Earth & Ocean and chocolates from Theo Chocolate with Dr. Loosen Riesling Beerenauslese 2006, Mosel.

Repeat dinner Saturday and Sunday night is the Seattle Party celebrating $5 Cover Seattle and a Moving Pictures Magazine party.

Tons of snow, slushy streets and loads of good fun.
