Wine Spectator Recognizes Kenwood Inn and Spa with Award of Excellence


Thanks to its extensive wine list, which features more than 185 selections, Kenwood Inn and Spa has been recognized by Wine Spectator with a 2010 Award of Excellence.

“Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Wine List Awards recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide lovers.”

The Restaurant at Kenwood Inn & Spa wins big from Wine Enthusiast magazine for their distinctive wine list


Unique

Wine Enthusiast magazine honored Kenwood Inn & Spa’s guest-only restaurant an Award of Unique Distinction for their wine list, which was judged not only by the size of the list, but also on the quality and synergy with the cuisine offered.  Other judging criteria included creativity, service, staff education, presentation, stemware and value.

The Kenwood Inn and Spa is the only winning restaurant in the city of Kenwood and one of 3 winners in Sonoma. There were a total of 144 winners in the US overall.

There are 3 levels of awards given out to applicants, who ranged from small French bistros to big-name urban eateries, the Award of Distinction, the Award of Unique Distinction and the highest, the Award of Ultimate Distinction.

Judges included members of the editorial staff at Wine Enthusiast, as well as wine directors, buyers and sommelier’s from well-regarded restaurants and import companies.

Hop Kiln Winery recently entered their soon-to-be-released, 2008 HKG Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Estate into the venerable San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the largest competition of American wines in the world with over 4,900 wines submitted with 63 professional wine experts tasting and evaluating these wines over 4 days.

Hop Kiln is pleased to announce that their delicious 2008 Pinot Noir received a “Gold Medal” in the $40 -$49.99 category!

If you’re eager to taste it yourself before it’s released to the public, Hop Kiln will be at the San Francisco Chronicle’s public tasting on Saturday, February 20th at the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason Center from 2-5pm.
